ABOUT
LONGCLIFF
The vision for Longcliff is to create a welcoming place for all in a walkable mountain community with a one-of-a-kind town center, harmoniously blended with distinctive residential neighborhoods and a protected nature preserve. Easy access to four-season amenities, cultural experiences, and outdoor adventure will be the hallmark of the community and will enrich the quality of life for owners and guests.
the heart of the village
Originally conceived in a study developed in 2018 by the Historic Toxaway Foundation (HTF), the vision for a town center and gathering place for the Toxaway/Sapphire area became the inspiration behind what is now the Village At Longcliff.
At its core, Longcliff’s purpose is to foster community and provide a place for life and connection for the people who live and play here. Central to this is the Village Green and Town Center with year-round access to restaurants, a luxurious mountain lodge and boutique inn, a variety of retail shops, and flexible office spaces throughout the Village At Longcliff. This Town Center will serve as an inviting retreat for those living and traveling to Toxaway from the surrounding areas.
Although ensconced in a mountainous backdrop, Longcliff’s landscape predominantly features gentle, rolling hills. The property is gracefully bisected by a lush, 44-acre nature preserve. This natural forest offers visitors easy and safe access to three miles of well-tended walking trails, inviting them to lose oneself in nature. Furthermore, this easement cleverly offers a visual partition between residential and commercial uses within the property, subtly enhancing the authentic mountain ambiance that characterizes the Longcliff community.

Majestic
Mountain Vistas
The towering peaks, gentle valleys, hidden nooks, and rolling waters are the foundation of the community, representing the raw beauty of our area. To stand atop a peak, or to gaze upon them from below, is to feel a connection to something much larger than oneself.
The Village in the
Heart of Nature
Nestled between national forest, Gorges State Park, and the Longcliff Nature Preserve is a village, a place where man-made facilities thoughtfully unite with nature. Unlike urban centers that overshadow their natural environment, Longcliff is surrounded by nature. Here residents can sip a morning coffee while watching the sun rise over mountain peaks or dine under a canopy of stars. The Village At Longcliff is a place where the convenience of modern life meets the tranquility of nature.

Preserving the
Unspoiled
Our commitment to the environment extends far beyond aesthetics. Protecting the surrounding area ensures that owners and guests here always have the opportunity to revel in unspoiled nature. Whether it’s hiking through verdant trails, taking in the views, or simply finding solace in a quiet corner, there’s an enduring promise that this preserve will remain as nature intended.
Seamlessly integrating people within nature is no small task, yet it’s a challenge we’ve passionately embraced. We believe that it’s possible for you to live, work, and play in a way that balances thoughtful development with access to the rich nature surrounding it. Through careful planning and design, sustainable practices, and community education, we ensure that every footprint left is one of coexistence rather than intrusion.

To solidify our dedication, a significant portion of the Village At Longcliff remains in a conservation easement. This ensures that the land is forever protected from development, guaranteeing that future generations can enjoy the same breathtaking beauty and serenity that we cherish today. The North American Land Trust (NALT), a nationally recognized conservation organization with the primary purpose of preserving and managing open space with ecological, agricultural or historical significance, is the conservation holder for the Longcliff Nature Preserve.
It’s more than just a place—The Village At Longcliff is a vision, a promise, and a testament to the potential for a community and nature to thrive side by side. In every mountain peak, flowing stream, and echoing bird call, we are reminded of the enduring bond between us and our surroundings. At Longcliff, we’re not just preserving nature; we’re celebrating it.
